On July 20, 2017, Caribbean Security and Defense Course (CDSC) students visited the Organization of American States (OAS) for a tour of the international organization’s historic downtown headquarters, including the Hall of the Americas, Hall of Heroes, and Marcus Garvey Hall. Students had the opportunity to meet in the main plenary room, where OAS delegates host meetings and conferences.

After the tour, Mr. Michael Bejos, a senior officer at the OAS and alumnus of CDSC 2013, spoke with students about multilateral strategic goals and security dilemmas in the Western Hemisphere. The presentation was followed by a short question and answer session about how the OAS, its Permanent Council, committees, and secretariats address the issues raised.
