In view of the profound changes in the global strategic environment, driven by the many recent and ongoing technological advances, it is imperative that nations develop paradigms and analytical tools capable of facilitating both the production of rigorous assessments of political-strategic contexts as well as reliable estimates of their likely future outcomes — especially those with potential impact on the strategic environment.

The William J. Panorama and Security Trends in the Hemisphere and Cyberdefense

On Wednesday, July 17, the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies and the Argentine War College will conduct the seminar "Panorama and Security Trends in the Hemisphere and Cyberdefense” in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Perry Center Professors Celina Realuyo and Boris Saavedra will participate as speakers and discuss recent trends in Latin American security, the use of military power in cyberspace, and US security strategy.

International Countering Transnational Threats Seminar

The William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies and the Ministry of Security of Argentina will conduct the seminar "Countering Transnational Threats in the Americas" in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Through a series of lectures and interactive sessions, seminar participants will examine how international terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybersecurity, and external actors operate and impact the Americas, and will discuss strategies and policies to help counteract these threats in the region.

US - Jamaica Defense Security Seminar (USJ-DSS 2019)

The William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies will convene approximately three dozen defense and security professionals from Jamaica for a "US - Jamaica Defense Security Seminar" in Kingston, Jamaica.

Caribbean Defense and Security Seminar (CDSS 2018)

The William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies will convene approximately 30 defense and security professionals from Trinidad and Tobago for a "Caribbean Defense and Security Seminar" in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Through a series of expert lectures and interactive sessions, seminar participants will examine issues such as transnational organized crime, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and natural disasters and discuss strategies and policies to counter these threats in the Americas.

Central American Regional Seminar on Countering Transnational Threat Networks (RTNT)

The William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies and Panamanian Ministry of Public Security will convene 70 defense and security professionals from Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, with Canada, Colombia, Mexico, and the United States for a "Central American Regional Seminar on Countering Transnational Threat Networks" in Panama City, Panama.

Caribbean Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Seminar (HADR 2018)

The 2017 hurricane season was one of the most devastating on record for nations of the Eastern Caribbean. CDEMA had primary responsibility for coordinating emergency relief effort to 18 participating states. US assistance efforts to the Caribbean were led by the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA). The US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), in keeping with its focus area of rapid response, supported recovery efforts on behalf of the US Department of Defense.
