Important Announcement: Change to Admissions Policy

December 01, 2017

We’re writing to inform members of the alumni community about a recent Department of Defense policy change that will affect Perry Center courses and seminars for the foreseeable future. Effective immediately, citizens of countries designated as “High Income” by the World Bank are not eligible for scholarships. At this time, this restriction applies to the following Western Hemisphere nations: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Chile, St. Kitts and Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago, and Uruguay. Citizens of these countries may still apply to courses, but in a self-funded status. Self-funded candidates must meet all eligibility standards and comply with all application requirements, including application deadlines, as well as being able to cover the expenses of their own travel, lodging, meals, and incidentals. Should this situation change, we will notify the alumni network.

We realize this policy affects graduates from these countries who may wish to apply for upcoming courses at the Perry Center or attend future seminars, and we feel it is important to give members of the alumni community an opportunity to share and discuss any questions or concerns they may have regarding this change.

Molly and I will be available to chat this coming Monday, December 4th at 7:30pm Eastern Standard Time in Google Hangouts ( To find us in Google Hangouts, you can search us by our username, PerryCenter AlumniOffice, or our e-mail address,

We look forward to the opportunity to dialogue with you about this important change.

Kind regards,

Kara O’Ryan and Molly Albin
